NCT DREAM Couldn’t Stop Cringing When Looking Back At Their “Chewing Gum” Days

They were only babies!

NCT DREAM debuted all the way back in 2016, and at the time, most of the members were only teenagers, with the average age being around 15-years-old. The group recently appeared on an episode of MMTG with host JaeJae and took a trip down memory lane.

The member’s first song was “Chewing Gum. JaeJae decided to show the group the concept photos for the song and also screenshots from the music video. One of the first things that stood out was Jisung‘s height. Mark explained that “He was the shortest back then,” which is surprising as he is now one of the tallest members.

After looking more closely at the picture, Jisung couldn’t hide his shock at what his hair looked like. With tightly permed curls, Jisung had to ask, “Why was my hair like that?” and Renjun thought he looked like the Korean Sweet Potato Lady character.

Even back then, the members were considered young for idols, and Mark pointed out that, at the time, he didn’t understand why people called them “babies.” Both he and Chenle now understood why because they looked so young when they first debuted.

The “Chewing Gum” music video was the perfect way to introduce the newest NCT subunit. The members also revealed the story behind one of the most iconic scenes in the video where Mark and Jisung look like they are fighting.

Although JaeJae was certain the two were fighting amongst the positive video, Jisung pointed out that it was actually a basketball competition with Jaemin as the referee.

There is no denying that the group has grown up since then, but they are definitely just as talented and adorable! You can watch the whole video below.
