MONSTA X’s Shownu Wants Monbebes To Forget This Performance But That’s Not Happening

It is forever etched in our memories.

Monbebes know that MONSTA X initially came together as a group through a TV program called No Mercy which aired back in 2014-2015. It was during this show that MONSTA X members, who were trainees at the time, showcased their talent and potential. While Monbebes remember the show as inspiring…

Shownu thinks it’s somewhat of an embarrassing history. Of all the stages that he had put on as a contestant on the show, Shownu would like Monbebes to forget about this particular one:

It was the second round of missions which aired in the third episode. Shownu and Kihyun worked on putting together a performance of Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj‘s “Bang Bang”. Shownu showed up dressed in a sailor-type outfit, which Monbebes still find adorable.

Unfortunately, the air was tense between Shownu and Kihyun. Kihyun had picked Shownu to be the most awkward and Shownu had picked Kihyun to be the least preferable partner. The two were so distant, they didn’t even come up with a team name! So their teamwork wasn’t a strong suite…

… and it showed. While the two trainees tried their best, the performance was simply “underwhelming”, according to the judges.

Years later, after Shownu and Kihyun debuted as MONSTA X and have become brothers inseparable, Shownu realized how “cringe-y” this particular time had been for him. He wished Monbebes would forget about the performance entirely…

… but Monbebes won’t ever let Shownu off that easy. The video continues to receive views 5 years later, as fans keep coming back to watch Shownu back in his awkward newbie days!

Plus, Monbebes know all too well that this is nothing close to embarrassing. It was an experience that helped mature Shownu into the fine K-Pop super star he is now. How could any fan forget about such a meaningful performance?

So no, Shownu. We’re not going to forget. We’re going to watch it. Twice!
