K-Pop Stars From The 1990s And Early 2000s Share Some Ways The K-Pop Industry Has Changed

There were a lot of restrictions back then.

Baek Ji Young, Byul, Shim Eun Jin, and Yoo Jae Hwan were all K-Pop singers in the 1990s and early 2000s, and are still active to this day. They shared some details on how K-Pop has changed from the 1990s and 2000s to the present day.

One of the biggest changes is how the winner of music shows is celebrated. That in the past it was common to celebrate alongside the winner.

Byul states that this “tradition” changed in the early 2000s and how it’s similar to the present day.

Another big change was the whole ordeal of piercings and dyed hair for idols. These two things are common nowadays but were restricted in the past.

The restrictions for costumes and clothing were also different back then, as there were more restrictions on what you were able to wear.

Another difference of K-Pop now to back then, is that revealing clothes were banned back then and you weren’t really allowed to show skin.

Baek Ji Young also gave praise to the present K-Pop stars and how their choreographies are far superior compared to the past ones.
