Two Artists From Houston Dedicated Their BTS Mural To A Victim Of The Uvalde School Shooting

She will live through the art.

Rachel Gonzalez and Caroline Truong are two artists from Houston who are also huge BTS fans. The duo wanted to create an art piece that would show their love for the K-Pop group, but after the Uvalde school shooting in May, the purpose behind their project changed.

Initially, the two artists planned to paint a BTS mural to pay tribute to the septet. But later, they decided to dedicate the mural to Amerie Jo Garza, a 10-year-old victim of the Uvalde school shooting on May 24. Amerie was hailed a hero after her friends disclosed that she was trying to save her classmates and teachers and call 911 amidst the crisis.

According to Amerie’s mother, Kimberly Garcia, she wanted to be an art teacher and loved BTS.

So, to honor this brave-hearted ARMY, Rachel and Caroline dedicated their BTS mural at Ninja Ramen on Washington Ave to her. The painting features the seven members of BTS in front of a purple Houston skyline. Amerie’s name appears at the top of the band’s logo.
