TREASURE Reveals The Worst Part About Being A Trainee, Gives Advice For Loneliness, And More

Get your tissues ready.

In a recent video by ODG Studio, 14-year-old Kim Chan was able to meet TREASURE and ask some personal questions that may bring a tear to viewers’ eyes.

As an ice skater who practices day in and day out, Kim Chan feels a similar sense of pressure and hopelessness that trainees may face. She asked about the difficulties of trainee life and how hard it was for the boys to be unsure of their futures.

My eyes still water when I think about it.

— Hyunsuk

Hyunsuk emphasizes the mental burden that was put on them during this time. From the seemingly endless hard work to the possibility of never debuting, it’s easy to feel mentally exhausted.

There were a lot of tough times for us. It wasn’t that difficult physically, but more mentally.

— Hyunsuk

Jihoon added what exactly keeps him going when he feels hopeless — visualizing the end result of his hard work and remembering why he’s pursuing music in the first place.

We all have the dream to become singers in the future. So even if it’s really difficult now, we imagined that moment in the future when we debut from this entertainment company.

Junghwan revealed he could relate to Kim Chan. Having done Taekwondo since kindergarten, he would often feel discouraged since he felt he didn’t have the physical structure for sports.

From experience, he states the only way to excel at something is to stick with it and give it your all. Even if you don’t have a knack for it in the beginning, you will only get better with practice.

I continued with it and naturally gained some strength for it. So if you continue with it as well, Kim Chan, you’ll also have good results.

— Junghwan

Yoshi also revealed he was thrust into a scary situation in the past. Having left Korea two years ago, he was sacrificing so much for a dream that may not even come true.

He added to Junghwan’s point that the only way to know for sure if you will ever be able to achieve success is to try your best and refuse to give up.

At that time, I couldn’t see what was ahead of me and I was unsure about a lot of things. But if you don’t give up you will definitely be able to do it.

Noting how she felt lonely at times, Yedam gave Kim Chan advice on feeling alone. Auditioning for a music program and entering trainee life at such a young age, Yedam made huge sacrifices. He couldn’t be a regular kid and meet his friends whenever he wanted, but he focused on his goals instead.

Through that process, I felt alone a lot as well, but I also felt like those moments made me more mature.

— Yedam

Yedam’s wise words showed that he matured from a young age to reach his goals.

When you feel alone, try to make that a time to reflect on yourself and think of it in a more positive way. Then that loneliness can become happier.
