The Set Of “Kingdom: Ashin Of The North” Catches Fire, Though There Are No Injuries

Thankfully, everyone is safe and the staff has continued filming.

Kingdom: Ashin of the North is a one-episode special that continues on the story of Kingdom season 2. It has been filming since around August and is expected to premiere sometime later this year.

With zombie stories, sets are usually filled with chaos and turmoil, which often includes things in the background being on fire or exploding. Wouldn’t you think that at some point this would happen? Well, it actually started for a much less expected reason.

According to reports on January 7, a castle on the set in North Gyeongsang Province caught on fire at around 1:42PM KST. The fire was extinguished about an hour after it began, and 9 firetrucks had arrived on set.

The cause? A staff member was trying to melt snow using a blowtorch. The materials on the outer walls of the castle caught on fire and began to burn the inside.

The fire broke out during the process of melting the snow, but there were no human injuries. We have resumed filming after a thorough inspection of the set. Moving forward, we will do everything we can to ensure safety on set.

Some of the castle collapsed from the fire but it is an easy fix.
