IU Reported To Have Donated Over 700 Million Won So Far In 2020

IU’s having her most charitable year yet in 2020.

IU has received attention and praise for her charity, having donated over ₩700,000,000 KRW ($588,230 USD) thus far in 2020.

Her charity activities started in February, when the COVID-19 first struck South Korea. She initially donated ₩200,000,000 KRW ($168,065 USD) to help fight the spread of the coronavirus.

In March, she continued her donations with ₩30,000,000 KRW ($25,209 USD) to her Seoul district of Seocho, followed by another ₩30,000,000 KRW to the City of Gwacheon, ₩30,000,000 KRW ($16,806 USD) to the District of Yangpyung, in addition to ₩315,000,000 KRW ($264,703 USD) to various welfare institutions in Yangpyung.

In May, she donated ₩100,000,000 KRW ($84,032 USD) to the Green Umbrella Child Fund, ₩10,000,000 KRW ($8,403 USD) to the City of Gwacheon for single-parent families, then an additional ₩51,600,000 KRW each to the Green Umbrella Child Fund and Children that Walk Together organizations.

In August, she donated ₩100,000,000 KRW to help those affected by heavy rainfall. This has brought her 2020 donation total to an unbelievable ₩735,000,000 KRW ($617,641 USD)!
