It’s no secret that American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth and BTS‘s Jungkook have mutual love and respect for one another.
They have been fans of each other for years. So, after Jungkook covered Puth’s hit song “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” they ended up collaborating for a live performance at the 2018 MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards.
Now, years later, they have officially collaborated with the anticipated single “Left and Right,” and it’s even more amazing than we could have ever dreamt.
And with every new song release comes lots of radio promotions, and everyone is curious to know how Charlie Puth and Jungkook’s collaboration came to be. Every time Puth speaks on it, he describes it as having been very natural. But many radio hosts wonder how someone could choose one BTS member over the others.
I feel like I would be nervous to like choose the wrong like… What if like… Were the other guys … did they feel left out? Were their feelings hurt?
— Nicole on Hits 1‘s Morning Mash Up
So, Charlie Puth revealed how he really feels about all the BTS members in an interview with Ethan Cole for Atlanta’s Power 96.1.
So, when you had this in mind, was it like, ‘It needs to be Jungkook’ or was it like he was always on top of your mind for this song?
— Ethan Cole
When asked if he always had intended “Left and Right” to be a duet, specifically with Jungkook, Charlie Puth confirmed. It was always meant to be.
I always wanted that second perspective on the second verse. I had it in my mind it would be Jungkook just because I have the past music relationship with him. We performed on the award show…
— Charlie Puth
Yet, he added that he loves every BTS member. So, he actually hopes to collaborate with each one eventually.
But I’m such a fan of every member of BTS, and I hope that I can do… I would do a song with every single one of them. I think they’re all so talented.
— Charlie Puth
Even Charlie Puth is OT7 at the end of the day! It would be amazing if we get more collabs out of this friendship.
