Webcomics By Korean American Artists That You’ll Love

Get ready to have all the feels because these comics will make you laugh, cry, or maybe both!

With webcomics continuing to rise in popularity every day, we decided to take a closer look at Korean American comic creators and what makes their comics stand out. Whether you like to laugh, cry, or laugh-cry there is something for you here!

1. Dami Lee

Dami Lee is a cartoonist lady person. She loves 90’s R&B jams, snacking aggressively, and animals who think they’re people. She is Seoul-born, California-raised, and New York-struggling on a daily basis.

Dami Lee is a former Buzzfeed comic artist, published author of the book Be Everything at Once: Tales of a Cartoonist Lady Person, a reporter for The Verge, and webcomic artist. Dami’s comics As Per Usual and Illustrated Internet can be found on Webtoons, as well as on her Instagram page. She was also guest KCON LA this year.

Although Dami’s webtoon As Per Usual is listed in the comedy genre, it is also a slice-of-life comic that features moments so unbelievable you can’t help but laugh at out loud! With more than 5 million likes and an average rating of 9.40, it’s apparent Dami’s comic is loved by many.

Have you ever eaten a sandwich so vigorously that crumbs got all over your hair and when you went to brush it off, split ends from your tired, disintegrating hair also fell out and you had to ask yourself, ‘Am I even real?’ No? Just me? Okay. Anyway, this is a comic about learning to be a real lady person.

A popular webtoon with almost 300 episodes to date and an average rating of 9.62, Murrz is a slice-of-life comic everyone needs to read. It is fun and funny, and oh-so-relatable. In a Q&A on her YouTube channel posted earlier this year, Murrz replied to a fan’s question about whether everything in her comic was true by giggling in a comically evil way before answering, “Yep!” 😈

Come along with Murrz and her ridiculous life full of jokes, cats, school, and learning to navigate the 21st century.

Skimlines’ most popular webcomic is You Were Always By Me, which she describes as a queer romantic drama.  Though it only has 25 episodes (not including episode 26, which is an update from the author) thus far, it has managed garnered over 130,000 reads and an average rating of 9.3 on Webtoons. The comic is full of sweet moments that remind you of what it’s like falling in love for the first time and chock-full of relatable moments about the awkwardness of adult life.

Slow YA romance about Lydia and her journey to find love and fulfillment in life with the women in her life.
