“Seoul Searching” starring Justin Chon to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival

Seoul Searching, an indie film directed by Benson Lee and starring Justin Chon, is now slated to make its premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.The movie is inspired by Benson Lee’s own experiences in a government run summer camp in 1986 and follows three high school boys as they attend a similar camp. The boys are sent here by their parents in order to learn what it means to be Korean since they seem to have lost touch with their roots.

The cast includes a diverse set of actors of mixed ethnicities and includes Justin Chon, Jessika Van, Cha In-pyo, Teo Yoo, Esteban Ahn, Kang Byul, Rosalina Leigh, Sue Son, Crystal Kay, Heejun Han, Uatchet Juch and Nekhebet Juch. Auditions for the film included a unique online casting call via Facebook where anyone was free to upload their audition clips via Youtube.

The film was shot in South Korea but is entirely in English. It was produced by Bowery Hills Entertainment and Mondo Paradiso Films.
